Sarah Guerin who leads the Actuate lab at the University of Limerick, visited our group to teach us about how she is leveraging recent ERC and SFI funding to build organic piezoelectric materials out of eco-friendly, clean, renewable biomolecules. Fascinating stuff! Maybe one day our AFM piezoelectrics will be made out of edible glycine crystals instead of poisonous lead!
